Ethnic Without the Folk Music

woodcrop.JPGpendantcrop.JPGWe have been informed by every publication across the globe that "boho" has become "ethnic" for the coming season.

I don't know if I am alone here in thinking that I am getting a bit tired of boho / ethnic and any other stylistic term you can come up with for "Wanting to be Sienna Miller"

But, if ethnic is what is going to bring me into 2005 then a good place to start is Hidden Jewel . Some of the bits and pieces should really only be worn by greying ladies with a penchant for tie-dye, but these wooden bracelets and pearl pendants are a good mix of cheap & ethnic.

TopShop as always, have tons of affordable peices, but again, I am going to stick to simple pendants or this stone bracelet to embrace the fashion but still keep it simple enough to stop me from becoming a Sienna wannabe that misses the mark (as, I have to report, 99% almost certainly do!)

Side Step the Love Bugs

aaronbashacrop.JPGNow I must make it clear, before everyone thinks I have gone a bit loopy that Aaron Basha’s pieces are not too everyone’s taste or price range. The New York jeweller is a US favorite, with Britney and J-Lo sporting some of his more simple designs.

At $3200 for these pretty earings, it is not going to appeal to everyone and you also have to side step the absurdly popular “Baby Shoe” and “Love Bug” ranges which, it would seem from US magazines, no expectant or post natal celeb dare be seen without !?*!*!

Aaron Basha is available at Harrod’s or Theo Fennel in London, or you can visit on line at www.aaronbasha.com

Dinny Hall

dinnyhallfinall.JPGDinny Hall designs and creates incredible jewellery pieces which are handcrafted in the workshops behind her Notting Hill store. There is something to suit most budgets from simple silver pendants to gorgeous cocktail rings, not to mention the enviable but sensibly priced engagement rings!

If you are planning a mooch around Portobello then a visit to the shop is a must, but her range can be found in places across the country and indeed the globe, from Liberty, to The Tate Modern and all the way to Barney's in Tokyo. For desktop admirers you can buy on-line at www.dinnyhall.com
