It's either the wedge or the flat shoe this season, yes.. that means the kitten heel is almost dead. Even Jimmy Choo has jumped in with the Momo, a starry flat shoe. From what we hear these are flying outta the store.
Laceless genius with Chuck Taylor slip-on All Stars
Let's be straight here, trainers/sneakers have entered main stream fashion - it's okay to wear them now, they've even cross bred with shoes. But I've had enough of the Adidas Superstar 35th anniversary series and the fuax limited edition release, the Nike dunk series and spending a months rent on a pair of Hermes sports shoes. It's time to get real and back to basics - what better than the new Chuck Taylor slip-on All Stars. The Slip features a built-in support beneath the tongue to give you a snug fit without the need to fiddle with laces complete with a deconstructed upper. They even have John Varvatos limited editions!! Keepin' it real kids!
Open Toed Sandals and the Corporate Ladder
I would like to add my two-penneth worth to the piece by my more affluent colleague who kindly let you know about the Tod's wonderful, yet expensive, springy ballet pump that I am assuming is lined with gold and gets rid of your cellulite for that price!
For those of you who, like me, have to work with a budget, I have been doing a bit of high street leg work for you. After trying on an amazing amount of variations on the simple pump, I have found this super-comfortable leather version available in good old M&S. This picture unfortunately does not do them justice as white is not the best colour, but they are available in black, silver and gold, are £29.50 and are leather (most other high street retailers in that price range are plastic)
They are a great alternative to the more expensive ones around and great for the office. Yes it's spring, yes we are excited about it, but I do believe that sandals and business are not good bedfellows and your colleagues should never, ever, see your toes! Think about it .....
Juicy Couture soon to step into a pair of shoes
Word on fashion street is that Juicy Couture is to roll out a shoe collection and eyewear! Can we expect Kitten Heels, Stilettos, Boots all wrapped in towelling, er let's hope not. Unfortunately we could not find any pictures, so it'll be a suprise.
I have to admit I have a secret admiriation for Juicy Couture and the niche it has found for itself. But this is probably more to do with Duran Duran genes in the mix. I'll explain later.
The Kate Spade Kiawah Sandal
We're just sure that this is the must have sandal down on The OC this season. The Kiawah sandal from Kate Spade is one elegant flip-flop. Italian made with bejeweled crab ornament comes with a black, red or white strap and will no doubt fly out of the stores this spring/summer. Retails at $350 (£180).
Roger Vivier shoes step back into your wardrobe
Pull those bids from ebay for those vintage Viviers they're making a comeback. Diego Della Valle (Tods, Hogan) is the new owner of the label and will launch it in the US this Spring (launced last year in Paris).
The elsassy (that's elegant and sassy) new line has all sorts of heels and flats in tons of vibrant colors. Expect a whole new generation to discover the delights that likes of Twiggy, Jackie and Deneuve were fans of.
Tip-toe into Spring with Tod's Degas Ballerina
This has to be the must-have spring shoe, the Tod's Degas Ballerina in gold calfskin, a mere snip at $295.00.
Etro
I discovered Etro while admiring a very vibrant pair of green leather gloves in a magazine, but there website holds so much more promise. Their mix of stylish and quirky leather goods in all of this season's must-have colours and their unique passion for display makes their site irresistible.
I am planning a trip to the Bond Street store to check out the reality, but if it is half as good, any one of these cute little numbers could we winging it's way home with me. Visit on-line at www.etro.it
Ugly … But Sooo Good For You!
It is not often that I would let a product so ugly go anywhere near a page professing to speak about style, but these MBT shoes are a must, provided you wear incredibly long wide trousers (combats are really the only option) and don’t go anywhere uber stylish.
Wear them, go for a walk every day, and you can hang up your sweats and roll up your yoga matt. Using clever sciency technology, they realign posture, work your stomach muscles and combat cellulite.
I really fought long and hard against getting a pair in the face of converts who border on the evengelical. I mean they look some dated ugly relative of a Spice Girl platform, and they are not cheap at £129. However, ladies, I have seen results! God damn it, I just don't know why do they have to be so ugly....
