Support our Newbies

As the academic year draws to a close, it is a really good time to have a nosey at the cream of the crop of new graduates to come from the fashion world. Don't forget Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney and Philip Treacy all started somewhere. So for the scoop on the new breed see www.degreeshow.com for a group of bright young things near you.

I can't let this opportunity pass by without giving a shout out to my pals at London Metropolitan, please go down and support some of the most talented new jewellers in London at thier Arts Campus (Aldgate East Tube) from the 22nd June.

The Hat Magazine presents Avec – The London Hat Show

The Hat Magazine is presenting the largest hat event of the year at the The Brickhouse in Londons east end, May 6th - 8th, Friday - Sunday. They'll be introducing 20 international companies alongside new names and designers showing this years top styles and information on training, fashion shows, demonstrations and displays. phew! And if that's not enough they'll be the London premiere of “What is it about Hats?” a short film by New York milliner and filmmaker Andee Kinzy. Oh, and did we mention that profits going to Macmillan Cancer Relief!

Viva Las Vegas Selfridges (in London)

Is this the future of departments stores - themes? Selfridge's in London (trendier than Harrods, but no Harvey Nicks) is having another themed three week extravaganza. Last year was all about Brazil, this year is all about Las Vegas baby! The event runs from 22 April – 15 May staging an exciting entertainment programme of music, dance, art and photography. With windows designed by David LaChapelle, a wedding chapel, Liberace’s stunning costumes and poker lessons we fear that the store will never make it back to normality. Just remember the house always wins!
